Connect Day

Be the Church—Out in the Community

Two men working together on a construction project outside, wearing bright green shirts, with one holding a piece of wood.

Connect Day is Northminster’s annual all-church serve day. It’s one day where we all show up to serve our neighbors with paintbrushes, shovels, prayers, and love. From small kids to lifelong members—there’s a place for everyone.

We partner with local organizations, including our anchor partner, Finneytown School District, to meet real needs and make a visible difference.

“Connect Day has truly become a community-wide event. With help from Northminster and others, we’ve been able to refresh our campuses in ways we couldn’t do alone.”
Grant Anderson, Director of Business Operations, Finneytown Schools

FAQs & Details

Have questions? We’ve got answers!

  • This year, Northminster will be building relationships and making a tangible difference by serving with these incredible community partners:

    • Finneytown Schools

    • Journey to Hope

    • Powel Crosley YMCA

    • Re-Threads

    • Springfield Township

    • Valley Interfaith Community Resource Center

    • Northminster Preschool

Each site offers a unique opportunity to show up with love, lend a hand, and be the Church outside our walls.

  • We’ll kick things off at 8:00 AM at Northminster.
    Here’s how the day flows:

    • Light breakfast, prayer, and group photo at church

    • Head to project sites around 8:30 AM

    • Return to Northminster at 12:00 PM

    • Enjoy lunch and a celebration together until 1:30 PM

We promise: it’ll be a morning well spent—and you’ll leave full in all the best ways.

  • Whatever your age, ability, or energy level—there’s a place for you.

We’ve got a wide range of projects, including:

    • Outdoor yard work and landscaping

    • Indoor cleaning and organizing

    • Painting and light maintenance

    • Baking and food prep

    • Clerical help and clothing sorting

    • Focused prayer and encouragement

Got little ones? No problem—many projects are perfect for families serving side-by-side.

  • Dress to move and get a little messy. Think:

    • T-shirt (we’ll give you one if you sign up early!)

    • Shorts or pants you can work in

    • Comfortable shoes or sneakers

Don’t forget sunscreen, a water bottle, and a servant’s heart.

  • Most tools and supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring work gloves, sunscreen, a refillable water bottle, or anything else that helps you work comfortably. If your site leader requests a specific item, they’ll let you know ahead of time.

  • Connect Day is designed for all ages, and many projects are family-friendly. However, there is no formal childcare at the church during work time. If you’re unsure about a project’s fit for your kids, we’ll help you find one that works.

  • Connect Day is a chance to live out our mission—to share the love of Christ with our neighbors in practical, meaningful ways. It’s not just about the work—it’s about building relationships, meeting needs, and being a church that shows up.

A man with gray hair and sunglasses wearing a bright green T-shirt with the words 'CONNECT 2024' and a name tag that says 'David Adison'. He appears to be participating in an outdoor event on a sunny day, with two other similar green-shirted individuals in the background, holding shovels, in a grassy area with trees.

Let’s show our neighbors that the church is here—for them.
